Clear your clutter
Finished your exams? Your textbooks, folders and notes are worth a great deal to the year below — and nothing at all in a cupboard. Everything here is free: students offer what they no longer need, and whoever needs it gets in touch.
Free books and notes from other students
Nothing is sold here. Contact the student directly and arrange it between you.
Offer your own books
Two minutes, and someone sitting the same exam next year gets them free.
How it works
- You list what you are giving away, where you are, and how someone can reach you.
- We read it before it goes up — a board with students’ contact details on it deserves that.
- Someone contacts you directly and you arrange the handover between you.
- When it’s gone, mark it taken and it comes off the board.
Staying safe
Meet in a public place, or let a parent handle the handover. Never send money — nothing on this board is for sale. Tell us if anything looks wrong and we will take it down.
Why this board exists
The week after the last exam, a student's textbooks, folders and printed papers stop being worth anything to them. The same pile is worth a great deal to someone two years below — and most of it goes in a bin, because passing it on takes effort and there is nowhere obvious to do it.
That is the whole problem this board solves. One student has finished with something useful; another cannot easily afford it or cannot find it. They are often in the same town and have no way of knowing about each other.
What is worth listing
Textbooks and revision guides are the obvious ones, and the ones most asked for. But handwritten notes are frequently the most valuable thing on the board: a full set of notes from someone who sat the same paper last year, with the things that mattered already underlined, is worth more to a student than a new textbook. Folders, flashcards, printed papers and past-paper booklets all find homes too.
Making a listing someone will answer
Say what it is, what condition it is in, and where you are. "Edexcel IGCSE Physics textbook, good condition, some pencil notes, Kandy" tells someone everything they need. A photograph helps more than any description. Be honest about wear — nobody minds a used book, and everybody minds a surprise.
Nothing here is for sale
Items are given, not sold. Nobody should ever be asked for money, and if you are, tell us and the listing comes down. We read every listing before it appears, and we show contact details only to people signed in, because a page of students' phone numbers open to the whole internet is not something we are willing to publish.
The quieter reason
A full set of textbooks is a real expense in most households, and the students who feel it most are rarely the ones who say so. A board like this lets things move without anybody having to ask for help — the person giving is clearing a shelf, and the person receiving is just quicker to reply. That is deliberate.
